Toddler Cakes and Cupcakes! Yo Gabba Gabba & Pirates

So, it's about that time again...(everybody join in the excitement...) BIRTHDAY PARTY TIME!!!!  YIPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!





For the little Man's 1st birthday, he was obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba, so he got a Muno and Brobee Cake (pictured above).  I did some practice cakes, took one to the 9-5, and sent one to the babysitters....here are the two practice cakes.  I'd never done any specialty cake before so  yes, I'm a nerd and I practiced.

 I used food coloring to color the cake batter, and dumped each color separately, directly on top of each other.  At the end, it comes out tie-dyed.

 I wasn't satisfied, so I took my "baking escapade" to another level, and used fondant to get the cake for his big bash!!

For the little Man's 2nd Bash....we had a swimming party at Buccaneer Bay.  The theme was Pirates!  I'm sure he couldn't have cared less.  Nonetheless, I opted for cupcakes with all different designs/characters...

The sharks were fun...I got the idea from the Hello Cupcake book.  They are made out of Twinkies...

I wish I could take credit for the cookies, but I didn't make them.  A guy...yes guy in our office (at my 9-5) makes them.  I didn't get a close-up of the school of fish cupcake but they were cute too.  Just used swedish fish!

And this year...my son decided he wanted a Perry the Platypus theme.  GRRREEEAAAT!!  I've not yet decided what I'm going to make, but at this point, it's looking like he's getting this on top of his cupcakes...

Because, well....there's not enough time in the day!  See you all in a couple of days...I'm working on posting his damn Perry the Platypus costume that I slaved over for Halloween ...that HE DIDN'T WANT TO WEAR!!!!
